Coficab receives PME Innovation Product Award COTEC
Guarda, Portugal, 28 November 2013: Coficab Portugal, part of Tunisian cable manufacturer Coficab Group, was recognized by COTEC Portugal, a non-profit business association fostering innovation in Portugal, with the COTEC Innovation Award for Coficab's innovative 0.13 mm2 CuSn wire. The prize for the "Most Innovative Product 2013" was sponsored by Mr. Pinto Balsemão, owner of Expresso Newspaper and former Prime Minister of Portugal.
The 0.13 mm2 CuSn wire developed by Coficab will allow the circulatory system of a vehicle to be lighter (weight reduction: 60%), to occupy less space (space reduction: 50%), to be less expensive in production (cost reduction: 25%), more efficient and more environmentally friendly in use since less weight means less fuel consumption and less CO2 emissions. Consequently, 0.13 mm2 CuSn aims at replacing the wire used today for signal transmission in a car, i.e. 0.35 mm2. Coficab 0.13 mm2 CuSn wires offer an excellent price-performance ratio and are today the most successful product in terms of volumes already in use.
Mr. João Cardoso, Coficab Global Operations and R&D Director, attended the ceremony held in Lisbon, Portugal on 27 November 2013. The prize was handed over by Mr. Cavaco Silva, President of Portugal.
